Stockholm Challenge Award 2006, is an international awards program for IT entrepreneurs on best practices in information technology.The Stockholm Challenge is regarded as one of the most prestigious awards for IT development, often referred to as the Nobel Prize for IT. Stockholm challenge identifies the IT programs around the world that play a vital role in its effort to bridge the digital divide. Through exhibits, presentations and seminars, the international IT community meets and discusses related issues. The main goal of stockholm challenge is to foster international IT relationships, enhance private-public partnerships, provide a platform for entrepreneurs to meet the venture capitalists and provide promotions.
With 73 projects making entry for this contest, India edges past US as the country with most number of entries for the stockholm challenge. Last year India was positioned second with 59 entries.

The Facebook was originally started by Zuckerberg as a way for classmates at Harvard to communicate. The name facebook was chosen indicating the books that colleges typically provide students, listing profiles and pictures of classmates. The facebook has been growing strongly since its inception couple of years ago, spreading its wings wide across the country and other continents too.

Community based portals such as Myspace, youTube and Facebook are increasingly becoming popular. These portals  are primarily used by  younger generation and provide plenty of marketing opportunities.

The owners of the privately held company have turned down a $750 million offer and hope to fetch as much as $2 billion in a sale, senior industry executives. So who is the one who is going to buy Facebook? Is it Google? While some say Viacom which is associated with the peppy young generation may be interested. Let us wait and watch.
