Microsoft’s XP media center software is already  outselling its normal standard version. Now it is the turn of Yahoo to give a free software named Yahoo Go for TV, which functions like a digital video recorder. All you need is the ability to view your favourite television programs on Computer and this software would enable to store your favourite programs. Consumers can also play DVDs, music, photos or other downloaded content. The software also has a TV guide and it also helps you to connect with the appropriate service provider using your PIN CODE.

So it is Tivo, for which people would have to pay few hundred dollars, which has to watch out, for its space is being captured by these companies.

To run the Yahoo Go for TV software your system should have 20GB of free disk space, 512MB, 1 GHz Processor and the software currently runs only on Windows. While the software works with any TV signal, Yahoo recommends a 1.5mbps broadband connection for best results.

Now it makes more sense for Yahoo’s acquistion of Meedio.
