From November 02, 2006 Madras(Chennai) found its place in the airmap of Air Arabia. Air Arabia is a sharjah based low cost airline. Presently, air arabia connects Nagpur, Jaipur, Kochi and Mumbai. With this chennai becomes the fifth destination for Air Arabia. Air Arabia plans to operate a 162 Seater Airbus which would connect Chennai with destinations in United Arab Emirates(UAE). Extra leg room has been provided by reducing the number of seats.

Definitely its low cost offer would be a great boon to the travelling public. Normally for workers in middle east, who hail from TamilNadu this low cost airline would mean lot more savings. Naturally this airline can turn out to be their preferred airline. Also for those pilgrims who plan to visit Haj, this air connection would bring cheers, for the cost of travel by Air Arabia would result in a saving of approximately 30-40% than the competitors.

Next to Chennai, it is Trivandrum(Thiruvananthapuram) that would be connected by Air Arabia from November  5th, 2006. With it Air Arabia would have six destinations.

The promotional one-way fare to fly to Sharjah is Rs. 3,800 plus Rs.1,800 taxes and surcharges. The airline’s office in Chennai would also be providing visa assistance services.
