AOL has launched India Centric Portal, aol.in. According to us, this is something that has been long due, for AOL cannot afford to ignore Indian market as India is an emerging market, inspite of a poor 3.5% Internet Penetration. Already there are well established Indian portals like rediff and indiatimes and Indian versions of MSN and Yahoo. Now AOL for its part has begun its Indian Version. It offers free email, messenger, bollywood news, city specific guides similar to other portals. Especially with the email services of Google, Yahoo and Rediff being popular, we have to wait and watch whether the Indian’s flock to AOL.

Is the brand name going to work for AOL? We believe that AOL would be employing severe marketing strategies to capture the Indian Audience, So lets wait and watch.
