Alternate Energy Sources

Clean energy biofuels has been the talk for the past few years, ever since the petroleum prices started skyrocketing. Apart from the prices, the dwindling resources and pollution also has boosted the chances of biofuels, which does not generate pollutants as equivalent to petroleum products. The kind of investments that have been made in the year 2006 indicate that biofuels are here to stay. Year 2006 saw whopping investments by investors in alternate energy sources related companies. When such a positive trend has been happening in the clean energy arena, we did come across an article in Independent Online, which raises a doubt whether the whole concept of Clean Green Energy Fuel is a lie? The talk of LED Lights replacing the fluorescent is already getting stronger. And how would it be if solar power can be used to power these LED Lights. The concept of solar powered LED lights is planned to be tried out in China. CREE Inc, North Carolina is a a leader in LED solid-state lighting components. The New product from Cree is XLamp LED. XLamp XR-C LEDs give lighting designers the flexibility and performance to create the next generation of LED lighting products.

Now this product from USA is to find its place in Guangzhou, China. It is the award winning XLamp XR-E power LEDs that are to be installed in the streets of Guangzhou. Multi-Cell Semiconductor Lighting Technology Co., Ltd. (Multi-Cell) has forged a tie up with CREE Inc for this purpose. The solar panels of Multi-Cell’s streetlights sit on top of the streetlamp. These lights would produce 70 lumens per watt. These solar powered LEDs are more energy efficient than compact fluorescent lamps thus helping save lot more energy.
Though this is a low scale attempt, if this project proves to be a success and results in great energy saving then it is very much sure that XLamp would become a preferred choice for street lighting.
